MICHELIN GUIDE HONORS LOUISIANA’S WORLD-CLASS CULINARY SCENE
BATON ROUGE, La. – On Monday, November 3, Louisiana joined other Southern states in Greenville, South Carolina, for the MICHELIN Guide Ceremony for the American South to announce selections for culinary excellence in the Southern region of the U.S. The ceremony marked the release of the first-ever regional MICHELIN Guide in North America.
The MICHELIN Guide awards its coveted Stars to celebrate restaurants that deliver exceptional dining experiences: One Star for high-quality cooking worth a stop, Two Stars for excellent cuisine worth a detour, and Three Stars for restaurants offering exceptional cuisine worth a special journey. The Bib Gourmand distinction highlights restaurants providing great food at good value, while Recommended restaurants represent outstanding quality and consistency.
Louisiana joined the MICHELIN partnership through Travel South USA, the largest regional tourism promotion organization in the nation, as part of a three-year initiative to elevate the South’s culinary reputation on the global stage.
“Food is at the heart of who we are in Louisiana,” said Lieutenant Governor Billy Nungesser. “From our Cajun and Creole flavors to our Gulf-fresh seafood and farm-to-table traditions, Louisiana’s cuisine is world-famous and one of the biggest reasons people travel here. The MICHELIN Guide’s recognition confirms what our visitors have known for generations — that Louisiana’s food isn’t just good, it’s unforgettable.”
Joining the Louisiana Office of Tourism in this project are New Orleans & Company, Visit Baton Rouge, Lafayette Convention and Visitors Commission, Visit Lake Charles, Visit the Northshore, and Visit Shreveport-Bossier.
